Saturday, June 5th, 2010New Studio Setup – Pictures
Sunday, May 30th, 2010I’ve been wiring patchbays for 24 hours, but I’m finally getting close to having the new studio setup. The new setup is the best of both worlds with analog and digital recording capabilities. And now I’ve got rack mounted autotune, I can do an awesome Lil Wayne impression!
BBQ & Blues Is In The Books
Tuesday, May 25th, 2010The giveaway went great and I have already received calls to order custom guitars. I also picked up a couple of the artists as customers. All in all it was a great day for business.
Running sound for the day was successful, but extremely stressful. We had to overcome several technical issues but managed to keep them mostly hidden from the crowd. We got a lot of praise for how the event sounded, but I wanted to take this opportunity to say thank you to the amazing stage crew. They deserve as much if not more credit than us.
There was a crowd in the thousands and plans for next year are already underway. I can’t wait. It came and went too fast this time around, but the next one will be even bigger and better!

Friday, May 21st, 2010Guitar from “Songs Inside The Box”
Thursday, May 20th, 2010To show that Cigar Box Builders are less competitive than you might think, I played the guitar from the movie “Songs Inside The Box” for a set last night. It’s not one of my Bacon Fat Guitars, it’s actually a Cigtone from my friend Philip Egers. Check out the clip from the movie below.

“Someone Like Me” – The Rising Fall
Thursday, May 20th, 2010“Someone Like Me” – The Rising Fall
Our brand new song. I brought in the lyrics and basic arrangements for the guitars. Then Joseph and Val molded it into what you see here. This is the first night we worked on it, so it should get a lot better from here. The second verse has been re-written since this was shot.
I have decided to make the sheet music open to anyone who wants it. When we go into the studio, I think we will make the backing track for this available too.

I’m melting “backstage”. Going to look like a lobster next week.

Us – “Where are the generators?” Them – “uhhh, mmm, is there a rental place around?” Hahahaa

I thought Rock & Roll meant late nights and sleeping til 1pm. Not getting up at 6am to load the trailer!
